Sally Molini

Dare to be

So this is what a self is like:
sealed in sticky senses
while filled with the mind's
back burner strobes --
to rise and shine from my
little hotbed of hope,
the future never enough,
fruition hard to swing
on a planet so distracting, earth
glinting more mystery than stars.
Escape-pod generosity is
handy and all the will
my swirly-feathered heart
can swell. Worrying about
the end, when the neon buzz
fades and I uncongeal,
how not to be rattled by
that first disembodied step
.
