~the job interview~

the job interview

 they asked me
if I was ‘flexible’ in the split
second between
them asking
the question
and me answering

 i thought

‘well, you see, if I take this job, you’ll only see me on
the days I get
rotated to work on, on
my days off, I
forget where I work, you
won’t see me on those days, I’ll be like the air we breathe, my
phone will be
switched off, I’ll be out of reach, it
will be as if you
never existed, I
don’t take my work home with me, I
turn up, then
go home and forget
‘yes,’ I answered, ‘of course’  they smiled and
offered me the job
